GP Mental Health Care Plan
Telehealth During COVID-19
For a limited time, the Medicare Rebate is available for phone or video sessions where the client holds an eligible mental health care plan. This is set to end on 30 September 2020.
Please note that your initial session will be held via videoconference, after which you may be able to switch to telephone support if you prefer.
Rural and Remote Telehealth
BULK-BILLED videoconferencing from your PC is available for clients in specified rural and remote areas (Modified Monash region 4). who hold a Centreliink Health Care Card or Pension card and a GP mental health care plan. Please click here for more information on eligibility. If you live in one of these areas and hold a Medicare card and valid Mental Health Care Plan but do not hold a Centrelink card, You are entitled to a medicare rebate of $86.15 from the typical session fee of $132.

No Medicare? No problem
For new clients who do not have a mental health care plan, Your first ONLINE coaching or counselling or coaching session is only $85. This promotion is available to clients who make payment using the payment system followed by the online booking system here. Note that payments made are not refundable unless cancelled by the practice, however they can be rescheduled with a minimum of 24 hours notice by calling the practice on 0474-659-432.
E-counselling (Online Therapy)

With the advent of online therapy or e-counselling and the recently announced availability of telehealth Medicare rebates Australia-wide, there has been no better time to give it a try. And you may be pleased to know that this can be just as effective as in-person therapy.

How Telehealth Works:

Note that your first telehealth session will always be done via Skype or Zoom, NOT telephone.
2. Pay your session deposit securely via credit card by pushing the book now button on our bookings page.
If you do not have a credit card, You may make a bank transfer of $50 to the following account: Richard Moore, Commonwealth Bank, BSB 062904 Account: 1044 7890, or pay securely via credit at paypal.com.au to recipient “RichardMoore.Psych@gmail.com.”
3. Please check your email within 24 hours of your booking for a link that will connect you to us via video conference.
This email will also contain important information that needs to be submitted at least 48 hours prior to the commencement of the session.
4. To Ensure a smooth videoconferencing session:
-Allow sufficient time before the appointment to ensure that your computer is up and running with the supplied software open. If you have issues with the meeting link provided, please SMS 0474-659-432.
-Ensure that you are using earphones
-Ensure that you are in a private room where you cannot be heard by any one els.
-Have your phone ready to answer as a backup in case of technical difficulties.
Notes:
At the conclusion of our first counselling session we will discuss your future needs in terms of online counselling or possible referrals that may be needed.
If, for any reason, you miss your scheduled consultation, payments are not refundable. However, appointments can be rescheduled or refunded with minimum 24 hours notice.

Richard is one of few Registered Psychologists and Accredited Life Coaches offering online coaching, with extensive experience in many kinds of issues.
Generally, counselling helps you discover links between your present behaviour and your past experiences, and strategies to overcome difficulties you are facing. Coaching tends to focus on the present and look towards the future. Coaching is more goal oriented whereby we look at what needs to change in the present to assist you in moving towards your goals and vision for the future. Whether you receive counselling or coaching depends on an initial assessment in the first session, whereby you will be interviewed to determine your needs. Note that coaching is not covered by Medicare.
If you’ve noticed that our services are cheaper that other psychology services, this is because there are less overheads when we meet online and we are choosing to pass that saving onto you.
Skype online counselling uses end-to-end encryption, which is the highest form of Internet security commonly available today. We are constantly monitoring the industry and will update our service as required to use the most secure and platform, which may not be Skype.
As long as you can download the software to your computer and open it, which is generally just 2 clicks, you will be able to participate in online counselling. You need only have a very basic knowledge of computing to be able to engage in the session.
If you are in crisis, in Australia, please contact LifeLine on 131 114. We do not provide a crisis counselling service and will refer you to LifeLine or another suitable organisation if necessary.
This will be determined in your first session. Keep in mind that if we may NOT be able to assist you with:
- Current domestic violence- emotional, physical or sexual
- Serious mood swings
- Any impulse to harm yourself or anybody else
- Heavy dependence on drugs and/or alcohol
Occasionally our session may be disrupted by a technical problem. If this happens and we are unable to restore our connection, we will telephone you to continue our session.
After the first session, It’s generally your choice whether we do a video call or just an phone call. Note that most modern laptops have a built-in webcam and mic and no manual setup of these devices is required; you just click the weblink we send you and the rest is automated. If you want to do a video call and don’t have a built-in camera in your computer, you will need to purchase a web-cam. Also, for privacy reasons we require you to use earphones. We also recommend that you test-drive the software with a friend or family member if you haven’t used it before, to familiarise yourself with the system and to make sure our call goes as smoothly as possible.
Normally, payment is taken during the session via credit card. If you don’t have a credit card, you will have the choice to pre-pay for the session via PayPal, or via bank transfer.
